Prof (Dr.) Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), heading the Directorate General of Health Services (Dte.GHS) is a distinguished academician, researcher, author and faculty with more than 30 years of experience in Pathology in particular in the field of hematology. She is affiliated with Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) in New Delhi. Prof (Dr.) Sunita Sharma has been conferred with eminent medical teacher award along with numerous national and internal publications. 

The Directorate General of Health Services serves as a key repository of technical expertise in the fields of public health, medical education, and healthcare to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Directorate coordinates with State and Union Territory health directorates to implement various National Health Programmes through its Regional Offices of Health and Family Welfare. It also supervises the management and functioning of central government hospitals and addresses public health concerns through its network of subordinate offices and institutes across the country. Additionally, the Dte.GHS under the leadership of DGHS also oversees the functioning of National Council Secretariat (NCS) responsible for implementing Clinical Establishments (Registration & Regulation) Act, 2010 across the country.
